WhitePages.com has rolled out a new feature that allows users to add their cell phone number to their database. It is absolutely free vs. paying to be listed in the print white pages or yellow pages. Once added, users can then quickly and easily lookup your number on the site.
I think that those whose livelihood depends on being found (e.g. realtors, contractors, etc…) should be all over this new feature.

One thing that I noticed in my surfing yesterday was that MySpace is now prompting its users to enter their real name (e.g. first name and last name). I think that this an interesting development as they currently have a search box on top of every page that defaults to people search.

Why would you want to find classmates? High school may only last four years, but the memories last a lifetime. It would seem as though there is no other period in a person's life that has such lasting impact on the person you become as high school. Then you graduate and real life begins. College, jobs, mortgages and family become your existence and the fun and challenges of high school memories begin to fade. You see it in the news all the time. A person that a family trusted to do work in their home as a painter, carpenter, electrician or handyman betrays their trust and returns to rob, kidnap or kill someone in the home. It is absolutely tragic and fortunately somewhat avoidable. It seems that often these criminals had a record before they attacked these innocent families. It wasn’t long ago that people would offer to exchange phone numbers when they met someone interesting that they wanted to have future contact with. Nowadays, you almost never hear people asking for someone’s phone number; they almost always ask for your email address or whether you have a profile on one of the major social networks. For some reason, this seems less intimidating and is easier to remember without searching for a paper and pencil. Even if you forget the email address later, you can always run a quick email search and locate the information later.

The outcome of this situation is then up to you. Maybe you want to send a letter and say all the things you never got the chance to tell them. Maybe you would like to call them up and ask them out to lunch to catch up on old times. Maybe just having the information is enough to answer the questions you have such as whether they are still alive and where they live. Whichever method you choose, a people search can provide you the information and the choices you need to find the closure you have been looking for all these years. Who knows? Sometimes, for reasons unknown to family and friends, an adult decides to just move away and disappear without telling anyone where they have gone. This generally leads to a lot of stress for their family and friends who are left to wonder if they have been kidnapped or even killed. When you perform a reverse phone lookup, the process is really simple. All you need to do is type in the person's phone number and the results including their name and address will be displayed for you. At this point you can even run a map program from there and get directions to their house if you need to in order to complete your surprise, or maybe just copy and paste the address to send them some flowers or print a mailing label to send them a card or letter.
